DiDi driver requirements in New Zealand

DiDi drivers in New Zealand need a full NZ licence held for at least two years, a current passenger endorsement, the right to work and a registered car with a current Certificate of Fitness.

Driver requirements

DiDi New Zealand lists these requirements for driver-partners:

Where DiDi's own pages disagree (age and vehicle age), this guide shows both figures. The app shows the rule DiDi applies when you register.

Vehicle requirements

The NZ Transport Agency explains vehicle licensing and the Certificate of Fitness on its own site; DiDi links to both pages.

Documents to upload

  1. Profile photo: a clear photo of yourself in JPG, JPEG or PNG, at least 200 x 200 pixels. Riders use it to identify you.
  2. Driver licence: your full New Zealand licence, with the passenger endorsement.
  3. Vehicle registration: evidence that the car is registered in New Zealand (the rego issued by NZTA).
  4. Certificate of Fitness: a current COF from an approved agent. DiDi also requires you to be listed as an insured driver on the vehicle's insurance, so have the policy details ready. Upload clear, complete photos so every detail can be read.

How to apply

  1. Sign up on DiDi's website or in the DiDi Driver app with your phone number and email.
  2. Upload the documents above.
  3. Allow up to 3 business days for the review.
  4. Once everything is approved, the account is activated.
  5. Log in to DiDi Driver and start driving.
