Driving with DiDi in New Zealand

Sign up on DiDi's website or in the DiDi Driver app, upload your licence and vehicle documents, and allow up to 3 business days for approval. Payouts are weekly.

What DiDi offers NZ driver-partners

DiDi New Zealand pitches four main benefits to drivers:

  • Low Services Fees, so you keep more of each fare, plus additional bonuses.
  • Safety first: in-app safety features and a 24/7 dedicated support team.
  • Control: pick up riders near you or choose where you want to drive.
  • Weekly payouts: you are paid weekly and decide when to work.

The exact fees are in the DiDi Fee Schedule, and the rules for drivers are in the Driver Agreement, Driver Fatigue Management Policy, Driver Suspension and Disqualification Policy and General Terms and Conditions for Driver Offers, all in DiDi New Zealand's Legal section. The same page lists terms for the DiDi Advance driver program and DiDi Delivery.

Services you can drive for

DiDi's NZ driver page lists DiDi Delivery (on-demand delivery across a city) and DiDi Travel (long-distance rides for up to 4 people), and its home page also lists Express. See ride types.

Driver safety tools

The DiDi Driver app includes facial verification at login, a preview of the rider's rating and the destination before you accept, TripCheck, Share Trip, Unmatch, an SOS button, anonymised numbers and TripChoice, which lets female drivers choose to be matched only with female riders. DiDi's NZ pages say drivers are prompted to take a break after 8 consecutive hours of driving. Audio Recording is offered in specific areas. See safety.

Getting help

Driver questions are covered in the driver section of DiDi's NZ help centre, and support runs through the DiDi Driver app. Safety-critical incidents go to the 24/7 Incident Response Team in the app. See contact support.
