Left something in a DiDi in New Zealand?
In the DiDi app tap Me, open Help Center and select "I left an item in the car". The app then guides you to contact the driver and arrange to get your item back.
Steps to get your item back
- Open the DiDi app.
- Tap Me in the bottom-right corner of the home screen.
- Find and open Help Center.
- Search for and select "I left an item in the car".
- Follow the instructions on screen to contact the driver and arrange the return.
Before you start, note what the item looks like, where you were sitting and when and where you could collect it. Keep all messages in the app so there is a record.
If you lost your phone
When the missing item is the phone you used to book, you cannot reach the driver yourself. DiDi's New Zealand help centre has a special entry for this: "I lost the phone used to request the trip". Complete the form and DiDi's team will take it from there.
While you wait, it is sensible to:
- contact your mobile provider and bank if the phone has payment apps,
- change your DiDi password from another device once you can log in,
- watch for trips or charges you do not recognise. If any appear, message DiDi's official Instagram or Facebook account straight away (contact support).
Your privacy
DiDi anonymises both phone numbers whenever a rider and driver contact each other about a trip, before or after it. Your exact pickup and drop-off addresses are also hidden once the trip ends (safety). Arrange the handover in a public place that suits you both.
Act quickly
Drivers carry on working after your trip, so report a lost item as soon as you notice it. The sooner the driver knows, the easier it is to keep your item safe.
Avoiding it next time
- Check the seat, the floor and the door pockets before closing the door.
- On longer DiDi Travel trips, keep your phone and wallet in a bag you take with you (ride types).
- Use Share Trip so someone you trust has your trip details too.
