DiDi Delivery in Australia

DiDi Delivery lets individuals and businesses send parcels across their city with a DiDi driver, on demand and 24/7, from the same DiDi app. Fares start from $6, depending on the city.

What DiDi Delivery is

DiDi Delivery is DiDi's on-demand courier option in Australia. A DiDi driver picks up your parcel and takes it across your metro area, any time of day. It is aimed at both people sending something to friends or family and businesses dispatching orders to customers. No pre-booking is needed, and it is available in all 28 DiDi cities (DiDi in Australia).

How to send a parcel

  1. Open the DiDi app and enter the drop-off address in the destination bar.
  2. Select DiDi Delivery to see the fare estimate. If the parcel is not where you are, type the pickup address too.
  3. Tap confirm. You are matched with a driver in minutes and see their name and car.
  4. Meet the driver with the parcel and tell them the recipient's first name so they can check it at drop-off.
  5. Use Share Trip with the recipient's mobile number so they can follow the parcel live.
  6. Once it is delivered, the fee is charged to your payment method in the app (payment).

Prices

DiDi advertises delivery fares from $6, noting the minimum can differ by city. Every order gets an instant estimate in the app. You can add up to 3 drop-off points in one order, which DiDi presents as a way to save on fees. Adding or changing drop-offs during the trip changes the fee according to the extra distance.

What you can send

Limit DiDi guideline
Number of items Up to 6 bags or boxes
Weight Up to 20 kg per item
Size Up to 60 x 60 x 60 cm per item

Prohibited: anything unlawful, fraudulent, hazardous or harmful (including weapons and drugs) and other items DiDi lists in its Delivery Rules. The list is not exhaustive, and drivers can refuse a parcel they reasonably suspect is prohibited or dangerous. They may also cancel if an item is too heavy to lift or over the size guide.

Alcohol, tobacco and other age-restricted items from stores need the recipient to show ID proving they are over 18. If they cannot, the driver returns the order to the store.

Waiting times

Stage How long the driver waits
Pickup 5 minutes, then the driver may cancel and a cancellation fee may apply
Drop-off 3 minutes, then the driver looks for a safe place or you redirect the parcel

Be extra careful if the pickup is in a no stopping or no parking zone.

If the recipient is not there

The driver and recipient cannot contact each other through the app for privacy reasons, so you are the link between them.

  • After 3 minutes at drop-off, the driver will look for a safe place such as the doorstep.
  • If there is no safe place, update the drop-off to your own address and the parcel comes back to you, with the fee recalculated.
  • Neither DiDi nor the driver is responsible for a parcel left because the recipient did not collect it.

Cancelling or changing a delivery

You cannot cancel once the delivery has started. To stop it, change the destination to your return address. Drop-offs can be added or edited during the trip. More in cancellation fees.

Insurance and responsibility

DiDi Delivery provides no insurance and DiDi takes no responsibility for parcels that are sent, lost, stolen or damaged. Package and seal items properly, and do not send fragile items or valuables. Complaints can be lodged through customer support in the app (contact support).
