Driving with DiDi in Australia
To drive with DiDi in Australia you need an ABN with GST registration, an unrestricted licence, your state's accreditation or authority and a qualifying car. Earnings are paid weekly every Monday.
What DiDi offers drivers
DiDi calls its drivers "driver-partners". They work as independent businesses using the DiDi Driver app. DiDi's main points for drivers in Australia:
- Low Services Fees, so more of each fare stays with you, plus bonuses (earnings).
- Weekly payouts every Monday.
- Flexibility: go online when you choose, pick up nearby or set a destination with Point-to-Point trips.
- Safety tools and a 24/7 support team in the app.
- DiDi Advance: a free program with a lower Services Fee and partner discounts for committed drivers in participating cities (rewards).
Where you can drive
DiDi operates in 28 cities in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA and the ACT. You register in one state and can then drive in any DiDi city in that state, but not interstate.

What you need, in brief
Every state asks for a smartphone, mobile number and email, the right to work in Australia, an unrestricted Australian licence (6 months in VIC, 12 months elsewhere), an ABN registered for GST, and to be listed as an insured driver. On top of that each state has its own accreditation and vehicle rules:
- NSW: no serious criminal or traffic offences, National Police Check, driving history, T condition on the licence
- VIC: Driver Accreditation and car registered as a Commercial Passenger Vehicle
- QLD: Driver Authority (BHTX), Booked Hire Service Licence, mandatory training
- WA: PTD-A for the driver, PTV-A for the car
- SA: Driver Accreditation and Operator Accreditation
The full table is in requirements by state, and car rules in vehicle requirements.

Tax
As a rideshare driver you must have an ABN and be registered for GST before your first trip, whatever you earn. Details on ABN, GST and DiDi's tax invoices are in driver tax.
Rideshare and delivery in one app
Opted-in drivers also receive DiDi Delivery requests, marked with a Delivery badge, alongside rides. Delivery trips count towards DiDi Advance levels. See DiDi Delivery for drivers.
Rules that keep your account active
DiDi tracks your Acceptance Rate, Completion Rate and Star Rating. Your Weekly Completion Rate is checked every Monday; falling below your city's minimum four weeks in a row leads to deactivation. A fatigue limit takes you offline for 8 hours after 13 hours online, and in NSW a 24-hour break is required after 80 online hours in 7 days. Details in the driver app.
Help for drivers
Support is in the DiDi Driver app's Service Centre, with face-to-face help at Driver Hubs and meet-ups. See driver support.
