DiDi driver requirements in Western Australia
In Perth, Bunbury or Busselton you need 12 months on a WA licence, a PTD-A, and a car with a PTV-A (OD-C) and Motor Injury Insurance class 3(f).
Who regulates DiDi drivers in WA
The WA Department of Transport authorises both you and the car. Your Passenger Transport Driver Authorisation (PTD-A) lasts a year and allows you to drive for hire or reward. The vehicle's Passenger Transport Vehicle Authorisation (PTV-A) lets it operate a passenger service, and DiDi wants it in the On-demand Charter (OD-C) category. DiDi's own baseline sits on top: a smartphone, mobile number and email, the right to work in Australia, an ABN registered for GST (driver tax) and being named on the insurance. What you upload in WA
| Document | Details |
|---|---|
| Profile photo | JPG, JPEG or PNG, minimum 200 x 200 pixels |
| WA driver licence | Full and unrestricted (a Temporary Driver's Licence Receipt counts), held in WA for at least 12 months |
| Proof of ID | Passport, ImmiCard, Australian or NZ birth certificate, or citizenship certificate |
| PTD-A | Current yearly authorisation |
| PTV-A | OD-C category |
| Motor Injury Insurance | Class 3(f) recorded against the car's registration |

Motor Injury Insurance (MII) is WA's expanded cover for treatment, care and support after a catastrophic crash injury, whoever caused it. The class on your registration must be 3(f) before DiDi can approve the car.
Vehicle rules by DiDi service in WA
The car must be registered in WA, have at least 4 doors, seat 4 to 6 passengers, carry no damage or decals and not be an ex-taxi. WA is stricter on age than the eastern states:
| Listing | Maximum car age |
|---|---|
| WA city pages (Perth, Bunbury, Busselton) | 10 years |
| DiDi Express (WA) | 10 years |
| DiDi Delivery (WA) | 10 years |
| DiDi Max (WA) | 15 years |
DiDi's help centre sends WA drivers to the Department of Transport for vehicle inspections. Other states' inspection and CTP rules are on vehicle requirements.
Perth, Bunbury and Busselton
These are DiDi's three WA cities, all offering Express, Max and Delivery. The Bunbury and Busselton driver pages match Perth line for line, so regional drivers need the same PTD-A, PTV-A and MII class. You can switch between the three once approved, but a WA registration does not let you drive in other states.
No WA airport document appears in DiDi's requirements. For Perth Airport trips, accept the airport's terms in DiDi Driver (Settings, Legal) and work from the rideshare holding area; leaving the queue costs your place. See airport rides.
Sticker placement in WA
Put the DiDi sticker on the rear window, passenger's side. If that is not practical, place it anywhere clearly visible from behind the car while you are driving.
